How To…

Reduce Shipping Costs

In order to understand how to reduce shipping costs, we must first know exactly how shipping prices are calculated. Shipping costs are primarily influenced by the total volume of products being shipped.

What Determines Shipping Costs?

Usually, shipping cost depends on various factors, such as weight, dimensions, distance, and shipping method. Our shipping prices are ONLY effected by the volume, so, we’ll focus on how volume (size) impacts shipping costs.

Why Volume Matters:

The volume of products in a shipment affects the space they occupy in a shipping carrier (like a truck, plane, or ship). Due to the large variety of items we offer, it can become challenging to create a common shipping price to account for all the variables involved. This is why we decided to ship with flat rate packages.

Calculating Volume:

Flat rate shipping depends entirely on the size of the box. It doesn’t matter how heavy it is (assuming it’s less than 50 pounds) or how far the package is being delivered. The simple formula for calculating the volume of products is length x width x height for rectangular objects. As the products are added to your cart, the volume of each product is added together to determine which box they will fit in.

Practical Tips for Reducing Shipping Costs:

The best way to reduce your cost on shipping would be to find smaller items. It is also recommended to keep an eye on the cost as you add items so you know when a box is full. If you add an item and the cost goes up, you then know that a larger box is needed to fulfil the shipment. Also, we gladly offer free shipping on all your items if the total price is $100 or greater.

Remember, smaller is better on Cheapish. If the item you want is larger than most, just be sure it is worth the cost of shipping before you decide to buy it. Happy hunting!
